Thank you ladies and gentlemen. Yes, we have won election to Tustin City Council. Out of eight candidates running for two City Council seats, we were fortunate enough to receive the most votes. I am honored and grateful for all the support that the people of Tustin have shown me. I look forward to serving on the Tustin City Council, and to working with my council colleagues and city staff as we endeavor to keep Tustin the great city that it is. There are challenges ahead, but I am confident that through innovative thinking, hard work and a spirit of cooperation we can continue to increase prosperity and provide quality services and programs. Once again, thank you for your support: this election was truly about you, the voter, and my sincere goal is to represent you to the best of my ability.
To me, Tustin is the true heart of Orange County. Incorporated in 1927, Tustin has a long and storied history as part of the California Dream. In 2009 Tustin was chosen by Forbes magazine as one of its “Top 25 towns to live well in America”, and all of us who live here will tell you that there isn’t any other city where we’d rather be.
Having lived in Tustin for over 20 years, I have a good understanding of this fine city, and I cherish the community, its values, and the traditions that make it great. I have served on the Tustin Parks and Recreation Commission for 10 years as both Chair and Chair Pro Tem, and I’ve also had the privilege to serve as Chair of the Tustin Planning Commission. My commitment has always been to nurturing and improving the wonderful community of Tustin and working hard to make it an even better place.
As a law enforcement professional and a police lieutenant with over 30 years of distinguished service with the Irvine Police Department I am uniquely qualified and possess a working knowledge of public safety issues and law enforcement. As a candidate for Tustin City Council, I have the support of local law enforcement, the Tustin Planning Commission, the Community Services Commission, and prominent members of the Tustin City Council. Heading my list of endorsements are Congressman John Campbell, Senator Mimi Walters, Assemblyman Chuck Devore, Assemblyman Jeff Miller, Supervisor Bill Campbell, Tustin Mayor Jerry Amante, Tustin Mayor Pro Tem John Nielson, Councilman Doug Davert, Councilman Jim Palmer, former Mayor Lou Bone, former Mayor Jeff Thomas and former Mayor Jim Potts.
My wife Tammy and I both feel that Tustin is a wonderful community for us to raise our two daughters, ages 12 and 5, and we actively participate in local school activities. As parents, we feel a responsibility to provide a healthy environment for our girls to thrive, succeed and learn. We take pride in the fact that Tustin’s public schools are among the best in Orange County. I recently had the pleasure of being “Principal for a Day” at Pioneer Middle School; I also recently had the chance to read stories with the students at Tustin Ranch Elementary School for “Dr. Seuss Day.” I am extremely dedicated to education and to Tustin’s educational system, and I feel strongly that the quality of our schools contributes immensely to the value of our community as one of the best places to live in the United States.
I am running for City Council to ensure that the city we live in and love so much, the city that one day we will leave to our children, will continue to be safe, well-managed, and fiscally responsible, maintaining its excellent property values and its attractive, vibrant business climate. I know we can achieve these goals together, and I ask for your support in my campaign for Tustin City Council. Thank you.
